Ukrainian army forces have reported fighting in Vasylkiv, Vasylkiv is a city some 18 miles south of the country's capital, Kyiv.
Troops from Russia also shifted to Kyiv from the north & east.
Explosions have been heard on the Ukrainian outskirts of Kyiv. which occurred at around 02.00 local time Ukraine.
As of now, the nature and location of the explosion has not been confirmed.
The behavior of Russia's military operations in Ukraine provoked a response from the US President, who announced sanctions against many Russian officials.
The officials - members of Russia's National Security Council - include Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu and Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov, the US Treasury said in a statement.
"The Treasury previously appointed eleven members of the Russian Security Council and will continue to impose costs on the ruling elite as Russia demands this brutal war of choice," the statement said.
The White House had announced earlier Friday plans to impose sanctions on Putin, as well as high-profile targets in a bid to impose a cost on the Russian economy and Putin's inner circle.
